Donald Trump’s Immigration Measures Generate Controversy

The main focus of the meeting was Trump’s announcements.
Who declared he would treat illegal immigration at the southern border as a national emergency, send troops, and block access to asylum seekers.
In his inaugural speech, Trump announced that he would sign a decree to eliminate birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants.
In addition to suspending the refugee resettlement program for at least four months.
Pending Response from the Mexican Government
Also, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that appointments scheduled through the CBP One program, implemented under Joe Biden’s administration to manage legal entries, were canceled.
An official from the new government, speaking anonymously, declared that Donald Trump plans to block access to all asylum seekers at the border with Mexico, further tightening immigration policies.
Although Sheinbaum emphasized in her message the importance of dialogue and cooperation, so far the Mexican government has not issued an official stance on the announced measures.
Mexico’s reaction will be crucial, considering the direct impact these policies will have on the migrant community and on bilateral relations.
